Castle Mead Radio began broadcasting to the patients and staff of Hinckley & District Hospital in November 1990. Starting it’s life in a broom cupboard, the station quickly expanded and in 1994 opened new studios in the roof space above the day unit in the hospital.
In 1996 the station was involved in help bringing the town its first taste of its own commercial radio station, Fosseway Radio. These were trailed from the stations very own studio’s and in 1998 Fosseway radio was awarded its own FM licence.
Castle Mead Radio went online to the world in 2011 and can be heard globally 24 hours a day 7 days a week
